T&T’s beach hand­ball men’s team will go in­to their fi­nal round-robin match against Colom­bia at the first-ever Un­der-23 Sand and Beach Games need­ing a win to have any chance of stay­ing in medal con­tention at the Can­cha Balon­mano - Mul­ti­sport Park in San­ta Mar­ta, Colom­bia from 11 am.

This af­ter the lo­cal men dropped their two match­es on Mon­day, 1-2 (15-17, 21-20, 4-9) to Mex­i­co, and then 0-2 (16-20, 18-19) against Venezuela, the top two teams at the end of the sec­ond day of com­pe­ti­tion with eight, and six points, re­spec­tive­ly, to fall to a 1-3 record and two points, for the fifth spot ahead of their clash with third-placed Colom­bia who has four points, lev­el with Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic.

On Sun­day, T&T en­joyed a mixed start to their cam­paign de­feat­ing Puer­to Ri­co 2-0 (17-10, 19-18) be­fore los­ing to the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic 1-2, los­ing the first set 14-15, win­ning the sec­ond at 22-18, be­fore com­ing up short in the penal­ty shoot-out 4-9 to end the day with a 1-1 record.

At the end of the six-team round-robin se­ries, the top four teams will ad­vance to the semi­fi­nals while the fifth and sixth-placed will meet for the fifth spot.

On Wednes­day, T&T will be­gin its Beach Vol­ley­ball cam­paign with Bri­tany Choon and Tysan Selvon con­test­ing the women’s com­pe­ti­tion, and the pair of Nico­las Williams, and Joshua Per­saud in the men’s cat­e­go­ry.

The T&T women meet Ja­maicans Alexan­dria Ash­man and Chevon­na Lewis from 8 am be­fore com­plet­ing their Group C sched­ule against El Sal­vadore­ans' Gabriela Fu­nes and Sofia Ve­lasquez on Thurs­day from 8 am, fol­lowed by a 1.30 pm meet­ing with Cubans Gisel Ar­menteros, and Jen­nifer Rivera.

The T&T men start their Group C cam­paign against Nicaraguan broth­ers, Christo­pher Cas­cante, and Jef­fer­son Cas­cante at 9.30 am be­fore meet­ing US Vir­gin Is­lands' An­dreas Bumps, and William Clements on Thurs­day from 11 am, and Cu­ra­caos' Leonard El­se­vi­jf, and Tim­o­thy Van Hen­neigen from 3.45 pm.

At the end of the round-robin groups, the top two teams from each of the four groups will qual­i­fy for the quar­ter­fi­nals. T&T will al­so com­pete in surf­ing and open wa­ter swim­ming in Colom­bia.
