It all came down to the wire. The drama continues to unfold in the T&T Darts Association (TTDA) Double in/Double out league of darts held at the home of darts, Kosmos Members Club in Port-of-Spain last Tuesday (May 14).

Jus For Fun took on Pub House Pirates in what was a very important game for both teams. The Pirates needed to win by a big margin to give themselves a chance at avoiding relegation while Jus For Fun needed a victory to reclaim second.

It started off tight as Jus For Fun were 3-2 ahead early on but pulled away in the singles round eventually claiming a well-deserved 7-3 win. Jus For Fun now sits second and the Pirates are now all but certainly relegated.

Drifters secured another season in the top flight after a very unlikely victory over De Original Game Shot (D.O.G.S.). The contest was exciting from the start as the two teams were locked at 2-2 before the singles round. Drifters won 3/5 of the singles matches giving them a 5-4 lead going into the last team game. Drifters got over the line with a very hard-fought 6-4 win. Drifters are now safe and dry in fourth place. CB Shooters took on Random Squad in their game in hand of the B division.

CB Shooters secured a convincing 8-2 victory which saw them rise to second and Random Squad remain last. The last game week of this tournament is set for Tuesday (May 21), with a lot to play for as the A division, second spot is still up for grabs. There is an outside chance that Jus For Fun can catch E-Z Lines but the defending champions should have more than enough to win the title even though they will be taking on D.O.G.S. Drifters might be on the beach now that their stay in the top-flight is secured. That means Jus For Fun will have a chance to if not overtake E-Z Lines, at least close the gap at the top. Scorpions should go on to win the B division and secure the first promotional spot.

Second place and the second ticket to the A division is still a very tight one to call with five teams all still with a chance to get promoted. The TTDA already has plans for the new league tournament, set to begin in two weeks. It will feature a mixed one-round format where 501 and Mickey Mouse will be played. Also both A and B division teams would clash with all points going to the team’s respective standings. There will be promotions and demotions with two teams going up and two teams going down.

Senior national teams named

The senior national teams have been announced for the upcoming Caribbean Cup of Darts to be held in Jamaica on July 19-27.

Both senior teams are in consistent weekly training to ensure they are ready to defend their title in Jamaica. The TTDA is doing all the background work needed to make sure the teams can be financially supported to make the trip a successful one.
