Morvant Caledonia got a goal from three different players to ease past Prisons Service 3-1 in the second match of a doubleheader in the T&T Premier Football League Tier I at the Arima Municipal Stadium, Arima on Sunday.
Sean Bonval opened the scoring for Morvant Caledonia in the 14th minute but a minute into time added on at the end of the half, Prisons Service got on level terms thanks to Akeem Bibby-Bailey.
In the second half, Morvant Caledonia started the better of both teams and regained the lead in the 65th through Joshua Alexander before Romario Burke added an insurance item in the 85th to move his team one spot up the 12-team table with 14 points from 19 matches in the ninth spot.
At the top of the table is Defence Force with 50 points from 20 matches, one ahead of AC Port-of-Spain, who has a match in hand and five more than third-placed Tiger Tanks Club Sando while fourth-placed Terminix La Horquetta Rangers has 43 points, heading into Round 21 Match Day Wednesday (June 14).
All eyes will be focused on the La Horquetta Recreation Ground, La Horquetta with the top four clubs all involved in clashes which could go a long way in determining the inaugural champions.
In Wednesday’s opener at La Horquetta, AC Port-of-Spain who will once again be without Jameel Neptune, Duane Muckette, Marvin Phillip, Michael Poon-Angeron, and Che Benny due to national team duty will meet Club Sando, who will also be without national players Alvin Jones, Nathaniel James, Real Gill, and Josiah Trimmingham in a match both teams need to win to stay in title contention.
Two hours later, host Rangers, minus national team duo Kadeem Corbin, and Ross Russell Jr meet Defence Force who will also be missing the key figures of Justin Sadoo, Justin Garcia and Kaihim Thomas as they go after full points as well.
In the final round of matches carded for the weekend, Defence Force and AC PoS, who has a match in hand versus Prisons Service go head-to-head while Club Sando entertains Point Fortin Civic and Police meets Rangers.
