Or­gans and Peace and Love Re­loaded, both kicked off the de­fence of their re­spec­tive Open and Over-45 Di­vi­sion ti­tles in the Ty­ro Sports Club Open Di­vi­sion and Over-45 Di­vi­sion Sev­en-A-Side Foot­ball with wins at the Ato Boldon Ground, Low­er San­ta Cruz.

On Ju­ly 8, Open Di­vi­sion reign­ing cham­pi­on, Or­gans got a pair of goals from Jadel Carter and Ja­mal Layne while Kevin John added the oth­er in a 5-1 spank­ing of Sweaters, who had Nigel Grannum on tar­get.

Al­so on Tues­day, Mean Ma­chine got a goal each from Sean Rogers, Ka­reem Sawyer, and Nathaniel Bar­bour to blank Pi­p­i­ol 3-0.

A day ear­li­er, Jor­dan Brit­to fired in the first hat-trick in the Open Di­vi­sion to lead Fifth Bridge past Low­er San­ta Cruz 3-1 with Ker­lon Grimshaw on tar­get for the losers, while BM Spurs and Jag­gan drew goal­less.

In Over-45 Di­vi­sion, de­fend­ing cham­pi­on Peace and Love Re­loaded got two goals off the boot of Ren­nie Brit­to while Ryan Bain, Randy Brit­to, Kevin Joseph, and Kurt Williams al­so net­ted in a 6-0 drub­bing of Pun­cheon Ef­fect while Cen­tral Old Boys al­so got a dou­ble from Gregg Simp­son and the oth­ers from Trevor Gore and Vic­tor Lee Tang in a 4-0 trounc­ing of Quar­ry Road.

The ‘Big Eight’ tour­na­ment win­ners will col­lect $8,000, while the run­ner-up and third and fourth-place fin­ish­ers will re­ceive $4,000, $2,000 and $1,500, re­spec­tive­ly.

In ad­di­tion, there will be in­di­vid­ual awards on of­fer for the ‘Best Head­ed Goal’, ‘Best Man­ag­er’, ‘First Hat-Trick’, ‘First Beaver-Trick’, ‘Most Spec­tac­u­lar Goal’, ‘Best De­fend­er’, ‘Best Mid­field­er’, ‘Most Goals’, ‘Most Dis­ci­plined Team’, ‘Best Goal­keep­er’, ‘Best Uni­formed Team’, and ‘Most Valu­able Play­er’.
