T&T’s Mark Ra­moutar proved un­beat­able, record­ing 8.216 sec­onds on his Suzu­ki Hayabusa, the fastest mo­tor­bike of the day. That time was al­so good enough for a new over­all track record at the Frankie Boodram In­ter­na­tion­al Race­way, Waller­field, in the third and fi­nal leg of the three-event Waller­field Cup Fi­nals (WCF) drag rac­ing event, from Ju­ly 26-27.

Ra­moutar blew away the com­pe­ti­tion in the open brack­et, win­ning ahead of Shawn Daniel, who placed sec­ond on his Kawasa­ki, while Garvin Gomez, al­so rac­ing a Kawasa­ki, placed third.

In the 9-sec­ond bikes brack­et, Pierce De­bideen ran his Suzu­ki to top the field, which in­clud­ed Dan­ny Daniel in sec­ond and Janelle Al­bara­do in third.

Over 70 cars al­so com­pet­ed across mul­ti­ple class­es on the WCF's clos­ing week­end, each pro­duc­ing sev­er­al spec­tac­u­lar and his­to­ry-mak­ing per­for­mances that were wit­nessed by some 3,000 mo­tor­sport fans.

Guyana's Rameez Mo­hammed stole the spot­light on Day Two of the event by tak­ing home the ti­tle for the fastest car of the fi­nal leg, blaz­ing down the strip in his Ford Mus­tang with a blis­ter­ing 8.329-sec­ond run.

It was a suc­cess­ful re­turn to the track for Mo­hammed and his team af­ter a ma­jor wreck in Guyana a few years ago. Since then, the car has un­der­gone a com­plete re­build.

Mean­while, Ce­leste Ga­jad­har was one of the top per­form­ers and the on­ly fe­male fi­nal­ist in her cat­e­go­ry. She stunned the men in the field with a mas­ter­ful run on Sun­day, which saw her win the 13-sec­ond brack­et in her white Mit­subishi Evo­lu­tion X. Ga­jad­har beat Dar­rin Chung, who placed sec­ond in the di­vi­sion in his Hold­en Kingswood. Dami­an Al­lum placed third in the brack­et in his Hon­da Civic.

Leg­endary T&T drag rac­er, Shel­don Bisses­sar, placed sec­ond in the open di­vi­sion, beat­en by Navin Maraj in his Nis­san Sky­line. How­ev­er, an ea­ger­ly an­tic­i­pat­ed clash against the crowd favourite, Ram and Sons fish van, was un­for­tu­nate­ly side­lined due to me­chan­i­cal is­sues ex­pe­ri­enced by the lat­ter com­peti­tor.

Still, the en­er­gy and ac­tion nev­er let up as com­peti­tors con­tin­ued with sol­id ex­e­cu­tions to bring the cur­tains down on the se­ries.

Fol­low­ing pre­vi­ous events from April 26-27 (Round 1) and May 31-June 1 (Round 2) at the same venue, Rezan Ogeer, Di­rec­tor of SGI Me­dia and event or­gan­is­er, said, “With every round of the Waller­field Cup, we’re not just rac­ing—we’re build­ing a cul­ture. This week­end showed how pow­er­ful mo­tor­sport can be when it’s brought to the peo­ple.”

Pres­i­dent of the T&T Au­tosports As­so­ci­a­tion, Ash­ton Eligon, was al­so full of praise for the event and said, "To see over 70 cars and thou­sands of fans en­gaged in reg­u­lat­ed, com­pet­i­tive rac­ing is ex­act­ly the di­rec­tion we want to see for the sport in Trinidad and To­ba­go.”
