Sikarioz Billiards Club and Cue Masters are the only undefeated teams after five weeks of competition in the National Pool League first division.
In Group A, Sikarioz, captained by John Eastman are a perfect five from five, while in group B, Cue Masters, who are led by Neil Samlal, have played four and won four.
On Tuesday, Sikarioz left the comfort of their Billiards Place, Aranguez home to take on the Expendables at the Pyramid Sports Bar in Gasparillo and came away with an impressive 5-nil win. Clint Marajh got the visitors off to a rollicking start with a 3-nil win over Expendables captain, Andy ‘Breeze’ Sirju. Dylon King, making his return after sitting out the previous two matches, also played well, coming back from a first frame loss to register three wins on the trot.
The doubles encounter saw Eastman paired with Allan Persad, to come up against Ricardo Sonnylal and Ravi Babwah. Eastman and Persad took an early two frame lead, inclusive of a break and run in frame two before Sonnylal and Babwah hit back with a win in the third rack but that was their only success as the Sikarioz pair wrapped up the game and effectively the match with a win in the fourth rack. Andre Creece was next for the travelling Sikarioz and came away with a comfortable 3-1 win over Justin Jugmohan. Sachin Ramnarine had the toughest match of night, needing all five frames to defeat Reynold Ramjattan. It was a see-saw battle with the Sikarioz marksman completing the sweep with wins in the first, third and fifth frames.
In Group B, the Cue Masters also won away from home as they travelled from their Barcode base in Princes Town to do battle with Panthers at Roxbury Sports Bar in Cunupia. The Cue Masters came away with a 4-1 win, their solitary loss coming in the second game. Prahalad Ramhit got the visitors off to the perfect start, beating Wazim Mohammed 3-nil.
