St Benedict’s College players and technical staff celebrate after beating Fatima College, 2-1, to win the boys' Senior (Under-20) Division title in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium training field, Marabella, yesterday in a repeat of last year's final.

Daniel Jones and Malacai Webb netted second-half goals as St Benedict’s College came from 1-0 down at the half-time interval to make a successful defence of their Boys Senior (Under-20) Division title in the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) with a 2-1 defeat of Fatima College at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium training field, Marabella, on Tuesday in a repeat of last year's final.

The North Zone champion made a positive start to the contest when Shaheim O'Brien scored the opening goal which they took into the half, however on the resumption, Jones drew St Benedict's level before Webb registered the decisive item.

In the semifinals, St Benedict’s got a goal each from four different players in their 4-2 defeat of East Zone champion Hillview College at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, Arima on Friday.

For St Benedict’s, Kylon Cayenne opened the scoring in the tenth minute but Aaron Rock got Hillview level, for both teams to go in 1-1 at the half-time interval.

Hillview stunned the visitors when Christian Aaron put the hosts ahead in the 68th but their joy was shortlived as Nathan George drew St Benedict’s lead five minutes later followed by Jaden Grant’s item in the 85th to regain the lead before Jahel Lewis netted an insurance item in the 90th to seal the win and set up the meeting with Fatima, whom they defeated 3-1 in an entertaining final last year at Fatima College ground.

On Thursday, Fatima playing at home turned on the style against Central Zone winner, Marabella South in a 10-0 thumping led by two goals each from the trio of Justin Alcantara, Luke Correia and Michael Chaves. The quartet of O’Brien, Aiden De Gannes, Zeke Prescod and Levi Smith chipped in with the other goals for Fatima.
