Vitas House Hospice is inviting the nation to come together in solidarity, remembrance, and hope at its first Cancer Remembrance 5K Walk, set to take place on June 14 at St Mary’s College (CIC) Grounds, St Clair, in Port-of-Spain.

The event, titled “I Walk To Remember”, will be held annually and is designed to honour the lives lost to cancer and to raise funds for free palliative care services provided by Vitas House Hospice.

“For the past 16 years, Vitas House Hospice has been a beacon of comfort and dignity for terminally ill cancer patients and their families, providing compassionate end-of-life care at no cost,” said Lisa Hadad, chairman of Vitas House Hospice. “Our mission has always been to enhance the quality of life and dignify its terminal stages through special care support and service.”

International food brand CHOBANI, distributed by HADCO Limited’s Distribution Division, has committed a US$10,000 contribution towards the event.

The 5k walk will begin and end at CIC Grounds on Serpentine Road in St Clair and will include a lap around the Queen’s Park Savannah. The start time is set for 7.30 am and will be managed by Jason Gooding, events director – Rainbow Warriors Triathlon Club.
