This country’s under-16 water polo boys team were expected to face host country El Salvador in a battle of fourth and fifth-placed round-robin finishers for a semifinal spot at the Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) in San Salvador, El Salvador last night.
This after T&T ended the five-team round-robin series with a 1-3 record.
When the competition splashed off on Thursday, the T&T went under to age-group favourites Puerto Rico 20-10.
However, in the afternoon session, T&T rebounded to defeat hosts El Salvador, 18-10.
Then on Friday, the T&T squad coached by Charissa Hackshaw, an international referee as well was edged out by Bahamas 11-13 before an 11-9 defeat at the hands of Costa Rica in their final match yesterday morning.
Should T&T beat El Salvador, it will compete in the semifinals today from 11.30 am while the final and bronze medal encounters come off tomorrow from 12 noon.
Last year, T&T was beaten by Bahamas 3-0 in the best-of-five two teams finals at CCCAN on home soil while at Carifta in the Bahamas in April of T&T placed fourth out of five teams.
The team is expected to return on Tuesday, July 3rd via Copa Airlines at 4:37 pm
