This coun­try’s un­der-16 wa­ter po­lo boys team were ex­pect­ed to face host coun­try El Sal­vador in a bat­tle of fourth and fifth-placed round-robin fin­ish­ers for a semi­fi­nal spot at the Cen­tral Amer­i­can and Caribbean Am­a­teur Swim­ming Con­fed­er­a­tion (CC­CAN) in San Sal­vador, El Sal­vador last night.

This af­ter T&T end­ed the five-team round-robin se­ries with a 1-3 record.

When the com­pe­ti­tion splashed off on Thurs­day, the T&T went un­der to age-group favourites Puer­to Ri­co 20-10.

How­ev­er, in the af­ter­noon ses­sion, T&T re­bound­ed to de­feat hosts El Sal­vador, 18-10.

Then on Fri­day, the T&T squad coached by Charis­sa Hack­shaw, an in­ter­na­tion­al ref­er­ee as well was edged out by Ba­hamas 11-13 be­fore an 11-9 de­feat at the hands of Cos­ta Ri­ca in their fi­nal match yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Should T&T beat El Sal­vador, it will com­pete in the semi­fi­nals to­day from 11.30 am while the fi­nal and bronze medal en­coun­ters come off to­mor­row from 12 noon.

Last year, T&T was beat­en by Ba­hamas 3-0 in the best-of-five two teams fi­nals at CC­CAN on home soil while at Carif­ta in the Ba­hamas in April of T&T placed fourth out of five teams.

The team is ex­pect­ed to re­turn on Tues­day, Ju­ly 3rd via Co­pa Air­lines at 4:37 pm
