Two men have been hos­pi­talised fol­low­ing a shoot­ing in­ci­dent in To­ba­go on Fri­day night. The men are iden­ti­fied as Desmond James of Bethel and Steven John of Store Bay Branch Road. Po­lice re­ports in­di­cate the in­ci­dent oc­curred at the pop­u­lar wa­ter­ing hole, Block 22 in Canaan just af­ter 9 o'clock.

Po­lice said James and John were among a group of men who were play­ing cards when a man in his 20s be­came up­set over los­ing mon­ey. Eye­wit­ness­es said the man left and re­turned with a gun and fired two shots. James was shot in the chest while John re­ceived a wound to the hand.

The as­sailant left the scene in a ve­hi­cle. The in­jured men were tak­en to the Scar­bor­ough Re­gion­al Hos­pi­tal.James was sub­se­quent­ly air­lift­ed to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal. He was de­scribed as be­ing in crit­i­cal con­di­tion. Po­lice said up to late yes­ter­day the as­sailant re­mained on the run. Crown Point po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
