A 23-year-old Bel­mont man was gunned down at his home ear­ly Mon­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said Jabari Ro­driguez was at Ser­raneau Road, around 3.30 am when gun­men stormed the house and shot him as he lay on his bed. They were able to es­cape.

Neigh­bours heard the gun­shots and on check­ing saw Ro­driguez bleed­ing from gun­shot wounds.

Po­lice from the In­ter Agency Task Force (IATF), the Port of Spain Task Force and the Bel­mont po­lice sta­tion vis­it­ed the scene with a dis­trict med­ical of­fi­cer who de­clared Ro­driguez dead.

Po­lice from the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions Re­gion I are con­tin­u­ing en­quiries.
