A 23-year-old man from Snake Valley, Laventille is currently in police custody after what the TTPS calls keen powers of observation by police which resulted in his apprehension after his involvement in a robbery with violence incident.
According to police reports, at approximately 6:20 pm on October 28, 2024, a 19-year-old resident of St Ann’s was walking along the Queen’s Park Savannah when he was approached by a man who assaulted him and stole his Nokia cell phone, valued at $750.
Following the incident, the victim flagged down a marked police vehicle occupied by PC Nanan and PC Maraj of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF). He reported the robbery, and the officers quickly assisted him into the vehicle to initiate a search.
While patrolling Cipriani Boulevard, the officers spotted a man matching the suspect’s description.
Upon searching him, the stolen cell phone was reportedly recovered. Both the victim and the suspect were transported to the Belmont Police Station, where the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will continue the investigation under the supervision of Police Constable Durity.
