One arrested for robbery in Belmont District

A 23-year-old man from Snake Val­ley, Laven­tille is cur­rent­ly in po­lice cus­tody af­ter what the TTPS calls keen pow­ers of ob­ser­va­tion by po­lice which re­sult­ed in his ap­pre­hen­sion af­ter his in­volve­ment in a rob­bery with vi­o­lence in­ci­dent.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at ap­prox­i­mate­ly 6:20 pm on Oc­to­ber 28, 2024, a 19-year-old res­i­dent of St Ann’s was walk­ing along the Queen’s Park Sa­van­nah when he was ap­proached by a man who as­sault­ed him and stole his Nokia cell phone, val­ued at $750.

Fol­low­ing the in­ci­dent, the vic­tim flagged down a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle oc­cu­pied by PC Nanan and PC Maraj of the In­ter Agency Task Force (IATF). He re­port­ed the rob­bery, and the of­fi­cers quick­ly as­sist­ed him in­to the ve­hi­cle to ini­ti­ate a search.

While pa­trolling Cipri­ani Boule­vard, the of­fi­cers spot­ted a man match­ing the sus­pect’s de­scrip­tion.

Up­on search­ing him, the stolen cell phone was re­port­ed­ly re­cov­ered. Both the vic­tim and the sus­pect were trans­port­ed to the Bel­mont Po­lice Sta­tion, where the Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tion De­part­ment (CID) will con­tin­ue the in­ves­ti­ga­tion un­der the su­per­vi­sion of Po­lice Con­sta­ble Du­ri­ty.
