RHON­DOR DOWLAT-ROS­TANT

A po­lice of­fi­cer was shot and wound­ed on Mon­day night by three gun­men who had just robbed a su­per­mar­ket in Cou­va.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, at about 8:30 pm, PC Bren­don Mar­cus was on Main Road, Cou­va, at a gy­ro stall pur­chas­ing din­ner, when he was con­front­ed by three men who had just robbed a su­per­mar­ket lo­cat­ed op­po­site the same gy­ro stall.

The men, all of whom were armed, opened fire on PC Mar­cus, who sus­tained a gun­shot in­jury to the low­er right leg.

PC Mar­cus re­turned fire with his ser­vice pis­tol; how­ev­er, the men es­caped in a white ve­hi­cle whose mod­el and reg­is­tra­tion are yet to be as­cer­tained.

PC Mar­cus was tak­en to the Cou­va Dis­trict Hos­pi­tal where he was at­tend­ed to.  He was then trans­ferred to the San Fer­nan­do Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal for fur­ther treat­ment.
