Elijah Belgrave scored a tournament-best six goals as title-holders Organs slammed Old Road United 10-0 when matches in the Tyro Sports Club Open and Over-45 Division Seven-A-Side Football League continued at the Ato Boldon Ground, Lower Santa Cruz on September 16.
Junior Asson chipped in with a pair of goals for Organs while Belgrave's brother, Josimar, and Jamal Layne added a goal each for the winner as they stormed to an eight win from as many matches in Group A to lead the 13-club standings with a maximum of 14 points, five clear of Peace and Love while Who Buy That and Massive and Crew Maracas, are next with 16 points each, with Fifth Bridge, fifth with 13, and Might Tower, sixth with 12 in the race for the playoffs.
In Group B, First Corner leads with 20 points from nine matches, two ahead of Mean Machine and House On The Hill after their 2-1 win over BM Spurs, also last Tuesday, with goals from Nequan Caruth and Josiah Edwards, cancelling out a lone reply from Jabari Franklyn.
This, after Mean Machine, which has two matches in hand, was held to a 1-1 draw by fourth-placed Future while third-placed House On The Hill blanked San Juan San Juan Youths 2-0 with efforts from Rennie Britto and Dwight Jordan.
In the Over-45 Division, defending champion Peace and Love Reloaded got a double from Randy Britto and the other from former national striker Hector Sam in their 3-0 defeat of Temptations for a fifth straight win in Group A to lead with a maximum of 15 points, two more than Come Sober who had played a match more while Temptations and San Juan San Juan are next with 12 points each, and One Is One, fifth with ten.
In Group B, leader Picton United got a goal each from Sheldon Corbie, Rudy Singh, and Errol Small in their 3-0 trouncing of Kings Of Kings to move to 18 points at the top of the standings, five ahead of Pipiol who blasted Fire-45 6-0 led by two goals each from Stephan David and Marcus Ambrose, with Devon Modeste and Trevis Qurico adding one each.
The competition is sponsored by Uncle Beddoes Supermarket and Hardware and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs.
