Onel­la Jack-Hill and Si­mone Mor­gan com­bined to great ef­fect to lead Fire Ser­vices past Las Lo­mas Acad­e­my 42-34 and earned a sev­enth straight win from as many match­es in the Pre­mier­ship Di­vi­sion of the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League (ASNL) in one of two resched­uled match­es on Tues­day.

Na­tion­al de­fend­er Jack-Hill, play­ing in the goal-at­tack role, sank 25 goals of 32 at­tempts to lead Fire against a stub­born Las Lo­mas Acad­e­my which did well to stay with­in touch dur­ing the con­test, 11-7 at the end of the first quar­ter and 17-15 at the half-time in­ter­val at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Tacarigua.

For­mer na­tion­al goal-shoot­er Mor­gan added 17 goals from 31 tries for the win­ners, who used a 15-9 third-quar­ter run to open a 32-24 lead.

The Las Lo­mas team en­joyed its best pe­ri­od of the match in the fi­nal quar­ter as it matched the league lead­ers goal-for-goal, 10-10, but by then the re­sult was be­yond doubt.

The Rus­sell-fam­i­ly com­bi­na­tion of Keon Rus­sell and Rac­quel Rus­sell tal­lied 27 goals from 42 at­tempts, and sev­en from 15 re­spec­tive­ly in the loss.

With three match­es left to com­plete its sched­ule when the league re­sumes on March 7 af­ter the car­ni­val break, Fire will look to se­cure the ti­tle with wins in two of its three match­es ver­sus De­fence Force (4-2), Po­lice (1-6) and main ti­tle ri­val, Po­lice Youth Club (5-1), who the fire­women will meet in the fi­nal league en­counter for both clubs for this sea­son.

In the day's oth­er match, Unit Trust Cor­po­ra­tion (UTC) ral­lied for a 45-38 win over Po­lice, thanks to Aquila Blugh's 32 goals from 44 at­tempts.

On Mon­day, Bermudez moved to with­in a point of be­ing crowned cham­pi­on of the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion af­ter im­prov­ing its record to max­i­mum 12 points and two match­es left to play, six ahead of TSTT (3-2), which has three match­es in hand.
