The stage is set for an exciting boys' Under-15 final carded for Wednesday (March 22) on the basketball court at the Nelson Mandela Park in St Clair, Port-of-Spain in the T&T Secondary Schools Basketball League.
Queen's Royal College (QRC) and Fatima College will meet in the title match which jumps off at 4.15 pm. This after QRC edged St Mary's College, 36-35 and Fatima defeated South East Port of Spain (SEPOS), 51-24.
Both semifinal matches took place on Monday evening at the same St Clair venue which saw undefeated St Mary’s go under to QRC in the first match-up with the latter coming from behind to score the winning basket with four seconds on the clock. Although St Mary’s got the final shot off at the end, it did not fall.
Elijah Bruce led the scoring for QRC with 14 points helping them book their spot in today’s final.
In the second semi-final of the evening, Fatima outplayed SEPOS.
Led by their captain William Francis, Fatima jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back securing a convincing 27-point win. Francis topscored with 26 points while teammates Adrian Thomas chipped in with 11 points and Idriis Martin with eight to see their team take on QRC for the U-15 title.
The winner will go on to represent the North Zone at the National Schools Basketball Championships in April.
