Chris Richards Jr con­tin­ues his march to­wards 2021 the Re­pub­lic Bank Ju­nior Open Golf Cham­pi­onship when he ex­tend­ed his lead by four strokes over Jean- Mac Chevrotiere at Mil­len­ni­um Lakes Gold Course in Trinci­ty on Wednes­day.

Richards, 16, the win­ner of the T&T Open Cham­pi­onships ti­tle two week­ends ago and the Pointe-a-Pierre Flight, fol­lowed up his73 on day 1 on Tues­day, with a 72 for a gross of 145, to re­main as the favourite to win the Na­tion­al Ju­nior cham­pi­onship ti­tle.

The tal­ent­ed Chevrotiere re­mains close on Richards heels with a sec­ond-day score of 74, a stroke bet­ter than the 75 he record­ed on day 1 for a gross of 149. How­ev­er, he is fac­ing a tough day three and need to shoot a course best if he's to post any chal­lenge of deny­ing Richards the top ho­n­ours in the 16-18 Male cat­e­go­ry.

Chas­ing the lead­ers is Ethan Hill, who shot 78, a three-stroke im­prove­ment from Tues­day to gross 158.

Mean­while, Brechin Cas­tle Open cham­pi­on Zi­co Cor­reia, who shot a dis­ap­point­ing 83 on Tues­day bounced back with 76 to se­cure the fourth spot with a gross of 159, while Ay­den Ali jumps in­to the top five with a 76 to bet­ter the 85 he reg­is­tered on the open­ing day of play.

Hill, the Boys 14-15 age-group Cat­e­go­ry leader from Alex Kan­goo, fol­lowed up his 81 on Tues­day with a dis­ap­point­ing 86.

Among the Girl's, it's a two-horse race with Fa­timah Ema­malie, who shot 93 to im­prove on the 95 on day 1 to gross 188, while Elise La Bor­de strug­gled with 106 which was a stroke bet­ter than Tues­day to gross 213.
