Darion Sparks and Josie Cedeno won their second straight T&T Volleyball Federation Trinbago Beach Volleyball Tour Under-18 Boys Division title at the Southern Regional Indoor Arena Sand Courts, Pleasantville, San Fernando, on Sunday.
Competing in a three-team round-robin series, Sparks and Cedeno, who recently contested the NORCECA U-18 Beach Volleyball World Championship Qualifying Tournament, the official pathway to the 2026 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship in the Dominican Republic, defeated Emmanuel Newsum and Jadon James 21-16, 21-5, and Jeremiah Jankey and Shiloon Millet 21-13, 20-22, 15-9 to end with a 2-0 record.
In the other match, Jankey and Millet overwhelmed Newsum and James 21-5 and 21-6 to secure the second spot.
In the Under-18 Girls’ Division, Alix Pantin and Lily Tang secured the top spot ahead of Samatha Ramjohn and Skyla Trestrail due to a better points won to points lost co-efficient ratio of 1.232 to Ramjohn and Trestrail’s 1.117, after both teams ended with the same 3-1 win-loss records and 6-4 sets won to sets lost ratios.
Pantin and Tang beat Arianna Renaud and Jael Mycoo 21-6, 21-6; Kamil Banfield and Raylece Hart 16-21, 21-17, 15-10; and Aliyah Urquhart and Janissa Morrison 11-21, 21-11, 15-8 but were humbled by Ramjohn and Trestrail 19-21, 15-21 to end with a 3-1 win-loss record, the same as Ramjohn and Trestrail as well as the same sets won to sets loss ratio of 6-4.
However, Pantin and Tang got the top spot due to a better points won to points lost coefficient ratio of 1.232 to Ramjohn’s and Trestrail’s 1.117.
Ramjohn, John, and Trestrail won against Urquhart and Morrison 21-18, 19-21, and 15-9 and Renaud and Mycoo 21-11, 17-21, and 15-7 after losing to Banfield and Hart 18-21 and 14-21 in their tournament curtain-raiser.
Banfield and Hart also won over Renaud and Mycoo 21-14, 21-15 for a 2-2 round-robin record, while Urquhart and Morrison also finished with a 2-2 record, beating Banfield and Hart 21-19, 21-14, and Renaud and Mycoo 21-13, 21-17 to end with a 2-2 record.
