A $10,000 re­ward is be­ing award­ed to any­one with in­for­ma­tion lead­ing to the ar­rest of the ar­son­ist who torched the San Fer­nan­do Yacht Club, last Sat­ur­day.The mon­ey is be­ing of­fered by the Club's man­age­ment, head­ed by for­mer Labour Min­is­ter Lawrence Achong.The at­tack on the build­ing lo­cat­ed at Hu­bert Rance Street, Vista­bel­la, was caught on tape.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors have sent footage of the at­tack to their Cy­ber In­tel­li­gence Unit to view the im­age, in the hope of iden­ti­fy­ing the sus­pect. Around 6 am last Sat­ur­day, a masked in­trud­er was seen en­ter­ing the premis­es and set­ting it on fire.Video footage from a se­cu­ri­ty cam­era shows the in­trud­er en­ter­ing from the back of com­pound, with the liq­uid in six two-litre bot­tles.

The cam­era caught him in the act of dous­ing the floor and counter with the liq­uid which he lit, caus­ing an ex­plo­sion.The ar­son­ist, who suf­fered burns to his body as the build­ing ig­nit­ed, lift­ed his mask, pro­vid­ing an im­age which the po­lice will use to make an ar­rest.The fire razed the bar area, caus­ing dam­ages in the sum of half of a mil­lion dol­lars. The bar has since been re­lo­cat­ed to an­oth­er site on the com­pound and is open for busi­ness.Mara­bel­la po­lice are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
