A $10,000 reward is being awarded to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the arsonist who torched the San Fernando Yacht Club, last Saturday.The money is being offered by the Club's management, headed by former Labour Minister Lawrence Achong.The attack on the building located at Hubert Rance Street, Vistabella, was caught on tape.
Investigators have sent footage of the attack to their Cyber Intelligence Unit to view the image, in the hope of identifying the suspect. Around 6 am last Saturday, a masked intruder was seen entering the premises and setting it on fire.Video footage from a security camera shows the intruder entering from the back of compound, with the liquid in six two-litre bottles.
The camera caught him in the act of dousing the floor and counter with the liquid which he lit, causing an explosion.The arsonist, who suffered burns to his body as the building ignited, lifted his mask, providing an image which the police will use to make an arrest.The fire razed the bar area, causing damages in the sum of half of a million dollars. The bar has since been relocated to another site on the compound and is open for business.Marabella police are continuing investigations.
