Two men were in serious but stable condition at hospital yesterday evening after consuming coffee and tea which were allegedly given to them by an 11-year-old girl.
Police suspect that the drinks were laced with a poisonous substance.
According to police reports, on Tuesday evening, the men, ages 53 and 44, went to visit their friend at his home in Couva, as the man was not feeling well.
Guardian Media was told by police that while they were at the house, the girl made coffee and tea for the victims.
Police said immediately after consuming the hot drinks, both men started feeling unwell and began vomiting before collapsing.
The two were rushed to the nearby health facility for treatment.
Police said the child was being questioned in connection with the incident.
