The ca­lyp­so fra­ter­ni­ty is mourn­ing the pass­ing of leg­endary ca­lyp­son­ian Don­rick Williamson, known as Fun­ny.

The vet­er­an hu­mourous ca­lyp­son­ian passed away at his home last night af­ter a long a bat­tle with can­cer.

Known for his hits such as 'Fun­ny Win The Lot­to' and 'Ac­ci­dent Pol­i­cy', Fun­ny was a trail blaz­er who per­fect­ed the art of hu­mourous ca­lyp­sos.

This year he was ho­n­oured by the na­tion­al ac­tion cul­tur­al com­mit­tee dur­ing the young kings com­pe­ti­tion.

Chair­man of TU­CO North Zone Mark ‘Con­tender’ John shared re­mem­bered Fun­ny was a good per­son whom he “nev­er heard use ob­scene lan­guage”. The ‘Young and Rest­less’ singer added Fun­ny “Came the clos­est to (ca­lyp­son­ian) Spoil­er’s work in terms of cre­ativ­i­ty”. Fun­ny was 84.
