A Laventille couple was shot at by a man they knew on Monday night, following a verbal altercation.

Police said the 28-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, both of Upper Pashley Street, Laventille, were liming at Harlem Road, Trou Macaque, Laventille, around 8.45 pm, when they allegedly got into an argument with a man they knew from the area.

It was claimed that as the couple got into their car and was driving off, the suspect walked out from a nearby yard and blocked the car from proceeding and fired several shots at the man and woman in the car.

The male victim drove to the Besson Street Police Station where he made a report, following which officers took the couple to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, where they were both examined and discharged.
