A Princes Town labourer, described by his family as “happy-go-luckly”, met a sad end yesterday when he was shot dead while liming with friends.
Brent Richardson, 42, a father of one, was drinking outside a bar along Market Street, Princes Town, just a few metres away from the Princes Town Police Station. Police were told that around midday, a man walked up to him from behind, shot him in the head and ran off. He was taken to the Princes Town District Health Facility where he died while receiving emergency treatment. His brother Marvin said he was having lunch when he got a phone call that Richardson had been shot and was taken to the hospital. By the time he arrived, Richardson was already dead. Marvin said he did not know of anyone who wanted to kill his brother. Although Richardson’s family was shaken by the murder, another brother, Marlon Douglas, said the family was a prayerful one and does not want “an eye for an eye” or “a tooth for a tooth”. Marlon said they would be praying for the spiritual delivery of Richardson’s killer, as their family might be hurting as well.
